LACE Orientation offered for developmentally disabled adults

5/8/2025 12:00:00 PM

ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø’s LACE Program (Learning At College Experience), in its 18th year, provides a dynamic, inclusive learning environment for post-high school students to access lifelong learning and social opportunities in an accessible and supportive community environment. The LACE Program is a continuing education program to enhance the lives of developmentally disabled adults.

Students will be accepted for the Fall 2025 semester and must attend the in-person orientation with a parent/guardian. A program overview will be presented, and academic assessments will take place afterward. Students may choose to attend the semester in person or participate virtually on Zoom. They may also defer attendance to a later time.

Once accepted, the course payment paperwork needs to be completed. School purchase orders are accepted. SCCC is a DDD approved vendor for Goods and Services both with PPL/Acumen and AWC/Easterseals. If paying privately, payment will be due before class starts.

LACE will be able to enroll students for the start of September. The program will hold a mandatory new student orientation on Tuesday, May 20th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be held on the main campus, One College Hill Rd., Newton, NJ. The room location will be sent with registration materials.

The registration deadline is Friday, May 16, 2025.

The LACE Program emphasizes maintaining and increasing social, academic, and life skills, specifically in Life Skills, Social Skills, Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies, Health, Special Education, and Independent Living Skills.

The fall 2025 dates are Wednesdays, September 3 through December 10, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm, in person or via Zoom. The cost of the program is $675.
